The Sale and District Family History Group is inviting the community to a special fundraising event on Thursday 16th October 7:00 PM to be held at the 10 Bond Street, Sale . All proceeds from the evening will go directly toward the purchase of a new computer system, essential for continuing the group’s work in supporting family history research and preserving Sale’s local heritage.
Entry is just $10.00 attendees can look forward to an engaging evening celebrating local history, storytelling, and community connection.
The Sale and District Family History Group, now working in partnership with the Sale Historical Society, is based in the iconic Temperance Hall. The group has been instrumental in helping residents uncover their family roots while documenting the broader history of the region. However, the aging computer systems used for research and archival purposes are in urgent need of replacement.
The feature of the evening will be a look at the legacy of Sale’s hotel industry, including its pubs, motels, clubs, and restaurants
Also during the event, the group will share insights into:
The history and evolution of the Family History Group and its amalgamation with the Historical Society
The ironic contrast between the Temperance Society’s alcohol-free legacy and the group’s publication Let’s Do A Pub Crawl
Showcase other significant local history publications, including titles on the Sale Cemetery, street names, private hospitals, Pearsondale story, historical homes of Sale, and The Heart story
Fascinating tales and trivia from Sale’s colourful past
The evening will also feature raffles, book sales, trivia , tea with homemade scones cream and jam and other fundraising activities, making it a perfect opportunity for community members to support a worthy cause while learning more about their town’s unique heritage.
